The morning of the wedding started off cool and crisp and promised to be a perfect day. The wedding itself was to be held in the field next to Professor Oak's Laboratory to be able to accommodate both human and Pokemon alike in attendance. A camera crew as well as a photographer made last minute adjustments moments before the special occasion started.
Tony nervously stood at the front with his hands repeatedly clenching and unclenching in attempt to not fidget as the procession of people coming down the isle almost seemed to be in slow motion. The first two people down the isle were Tony's father and Mrs. Oak, Delia's Matron of Honor. Tony felt a tad better about every aspect of the whole ordeal when he noticed the look of discomfort on his father's face.
'He must be dying to take the tuxedo off. I know I am. Why did they have to make the tuxedos so stiff?' Tony mentally griped as he swiped imaginary dust off the dark sleeve of his tuxedo jacket.
As soon as his father and Mrs. Oak took their places, Charizard came down the isle with its wings folded as close to its body as possible and the rings laying on a circular red and white pillow within its clutches. Meganium came down the isle wearing a wreath of white daisies intermingled with Babies Breath flowers around the antennae on top of its head. As Meganium progressed, it managed to direct a Petal Dance with its vines so that it appeared to be snowing light orange and white flower petals.
After Meganium reached the front and took its place next to Mrs. Oak, the Bridal March started to play on the sound system. The sound of shuffling could barely be heard as people stood up from their seats and turned slightly to look at the bride. Delia was escorted down the isle by Professor Oak - who was wearing a black tuxedo, a definite change from his normal apparel of a white lab coat, red polo shirt and khaki slacks.
Tony forced himself to start breathing again after he found that his heart was caught in his throat and he was staring at the sight of his bride. The gown that she wore was made from a shimmering white material and designed by someone who had obviously used a Bellossom as a model for that particular gown. A white veil covered her face. Delia's hair, which was normally down in a low hanging ponytail, was done up in two buns which were held up with a pair of matching scrunches that took on the appearance of white flowers, completed the ensemble.
As soon as Delia and Professor Oak reached the podium, he carefully raised the veil over her head and kissed her cheek. He then took her hand and placed it in Tony's grasp before he took his place next to his wife.
"You look gorgeous." Tony whispered to her.
A blush was her only response.
"We have gathered here today to join Anthony Ketchum and Cordelia Godda in marriage. If anybody here has any objections, speak up now or forever hold your peace." the cleric said.
Nobody said a word. That is, until a distinctly familiar male voice called out.
"I object!"
"Oh no..." Tony groaned as murmurs of confusion came from almost everyone else in attendance. Tony went into a slump as his mind instantly recognized the only possible owner of the objecting voice.
"What are you doing here?" Delia exclaimed in shock after she and Tony turned around and saw Giovanni strolling to the front of the gathering.
"Didn't you hear me the first time?" Giovanni said with a sneer, "I object to your getting married, especially if it's not to me."
"Um, if you..." the cleric attempted to intervene as the guests started to murmur amongst themselves.
"Oh, do shut up. You asked for any objections. Well here I am, objecting." Giovanni retorted. "If anyone else has something to say, stuff it."
The murmuring died out as the guests watched on in shock.
"You agreed to stay out of our personal lives." Tony growled, not paying attention to anyone but Delia and Giovanni.
"Let's just say that I had a change of heart. Besides, I felt gypped when I found that I wasn't invited to such a grand occasion." Giovanni said as he wiped away an imaginary tear.
"Save your crocodile tears for someone who cares, Giovanni." Tony warned.
"Don't you know that you talk too much? Honestly, whenever I see you, your mouth's as wide open as a Gyarados' is." Giovanni snorted. "Let's make a deal. We hold a battle right here and now. Just Delia and myself. One Pokemon each. If I win, the wedding's off."
"Now see here!" Tony's father started to object.
"Can it, old man. This is no concern of yours." Giovanni scowled.
"The hell it isn't. That's my son and soon to be daughter-in-law that your threatening!"
"Dad, let us deal with it." Tony said before facing Giovanni. "How do you expect her to battle you when you know that she doesn't have a Pokemon of her own?"
"I don't. I expect her to forfeit for that very reason."
"You can't be serious..." Tony griped. The look on Giovanni's face confirmed that he was very serious. "You do realize that you and your Pokemon are vastly outnumbered, right? If you so much as sneeze, you'd be tossed out like trash."
"On the contrary, if Delia doesn't battle or forfeit to me, I shall make your lives a living hell."
"On the other hand, if you don't leave, I'll have you carted off for trespassing!" Professor Oak declared.
"Ooh, I'm scared... I'm already quaking in my boots." Giovanni replied sarcastically.
"New rule to this ordeal!" Tony said as coolly as he could muster. "I battle in her place."
"When Hell freezes over! I already battled you once. You only had a stroke of luck." Giovanni commented snidely.
Finally finding her voice after the initial shock wore off, Delia piped up, "Look around you Giovanni. You're on enemy territory and surrounded. If you lose - which will most likely happen - I suggest that you have another 'change of heart' as you so aptly put it and never contact us again. Do so and you would force me to expose certain things that you may prefer to keep under wraps."
"You don't know anything!"
"Try me!" Delia exclaimed with a look that almost made Giovanni's skin crawl.
"In that case, Meganium! Follow all of Delia's commands in this battle." Tony commanded.
"Meg-meganium!" the plant Pokemon exclaimed before following Delia several meters away.
Between the Oak family and Mr. Ketchum, the rest of the wedding party was held back as to not get caught in the cross fire of the impending battle. Giovanni glared at the pair of them before sending out his Rhyhorn.
"Meganium, use Leech Seed!" Delia called out.
"Meg-meg!" Meganium sent out several seeds that attached themselves to Rhyhorn's back. The seeds immediately took hold and started to sprout.
"Rhyhorn, use Rock Blast, now!" Giovanni called out to his Pokemon.
The ground Pokemon all but ignored Leech Seed's effects as it charged up to do Giovanni's bidding. For a split second, Delia wasn't sure what to use next, but then remembered the attack that was taught to Meganium by a specialty move tutor.
"Meganium, don't let Rock Blast reach you. Use Frenzy Plant, quickly!" Delia exclaimed.
"Mega-meganium!" Meganium exclaimed as a shockwave of flora sped across the short distance between it and Rhyhorn, instantly knocking out the ground Pokemon before anyone really knew what hit it.
Giovanni recalled his Pokemon and just as he stormed off, he exclaimed, "This won't be the last time anyone's heard from me!"A scream of rage could be heard reverberating from a distance. Before anyone could react to Giovanni's abrupt exit, Delia fell to her knees and let out a sob.
"This was suppose to be one of the happiest days of my life!" she cried.
"Hey now..." Tony whispered as he knelt beside her. "He didn't get his way. You beat him in only two rounds. I'd say you're a natural born Pokemon trainer if I didn't know any better. So c'mon. Let's forget all about him and get married, just as we planned on doing."
Delia nodded and wiped away a stray tear before accepting Tony's offered outstretched hand to help her stand up. After everybody got back into their places, the cleric cleared his throat and the wedding continued.
"Now then, I'm assuming that there's no other objections. Who is it that is giving the bride away?"
"I am." Professor Oak said.
"Anthony, do you take this woman to be your wife in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, to love, honor and cherish until death do you part?" the cleric asked.
'Does he really have to ask?' Tony dryly thought before saying, "I do."
"Cordelia, do you take this man to be your husband in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, to love, honor and cherish until death do you part?"
"I do." Delia replied.
The cleric then indicated to Charizard that it was time for to rings to be brought forward.
"The couple has chosen to give their own vows."
"From this day on, I choose you, my beloved Tony, to be my husband. To live with you and love you; to always stand by your side. I promise to laugh with you in good times, to struggle with you in bad; to solace you when you are downhearted; to wipe your tears with my hands; to comfort you with my body; to mirror you with my soul; to share with you all my riches and honors; to be all that you could ever need in this life."
"Today, a day of music and celebration, I pledge to share my life with you. Whether the days that come are happy or sad, I will live them with you. When we are poor, I will struggle with you; when we are rich, I will celebrate with you. When our stomachs are empty, my heart will be filled, because I know you will be by my side, and I will be by yours.. You always bring joy to my life and in turn, I promise to reciprocate. Delia, I could see no one else that I'd rather have to be my wife."
After Tony and Delia placed the rings on the appropriate fingers, the cleric spoke up once more.
"What these two bring together, let no man tear apart. I now declare you man and wife!" the cleric exclaimed. "You may now kiss the bride."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the celebrations came to a close at the end of the evening, Charizard and Meganium practically grabbed Tony and Delia - before they were able to run off for their honeymoon - to guide them towards the river. Everyone else at the ceremony decided to follow to see what the Pokemon were up to. Charizard growled at the other people in attendance to get them to step back while Meganium nudged Tony and Delia to a specified spot a few feet from the riverbed.
Before anyone had the chance to ask what was going on, Seaking leaped out of the water a number of times, each time sending jets of water to predetermined spots surrounding the newlyweds. A flurry of motion from Meganium and Charizard had many people royally confused. Seaking sent random splashes of water whenever it was deemed necessary. Between the three Pokemon, a gazebo was constructed around Tony and Delia from the mud and unearthed clay which was quickly dried from Charizard's well aimed Heat Wave attack.
Seaking and Meganium finished the spectacle by combining weakened versions of Petal Dance and Rain Dance to make a mixture of a very fine mist and flower petals showering down on the scene. Through out the ordeal, the camera crew and photographer made sure to get it all on film. Something like this did not happen every day, so they attempted to capture it from as many angles as possible.
Panting, Charizard and Meganium looked each other over and chuckled. Random smudges of caked on mud covered at least one third of each Pokemon's body. At the opportune moment, Seaking lifted its head out of the river and squirted water at the two Pokemon, clearing away most of the muck.
"Thank you. It's beautiful!" Delia exclaimed.
"It was certainly an event to remember." Tony agreed before wrapping Delia in his arms for a passionate embrace.
